What should I do if adhesive residue builds up?

Residue on the base is normal and should be cleaned off at every reattachment, before it accumulates. Lay the system flat, apply an adhesive remover or a citrus/oil-based solvent to the bonded areas, and let it soak so the residue softens. Gently roll or scrape it away with a soft tool, taking care around lace or thin-skin sections, then wash the base with a residue-free cleanser and let it dry fully. For a skin base, the smooth surface releases residue quickly; lace needs a gentler touch. If buildup has hardened, repeat the soak rather than forcing it. Keeping the base clean protects both the bond and the lifespan of the system. See How to remove a hair system safely.
